Donald S. Reinert, to which the Donald S. Reinert Egypt VFW Post 7293 is named after, was a WWII Veteran who was killed two weeks shy of his 21st birthday on May 11th, 1945. Mr. Reinert was just 18 when he sailed into World War II in the fall of 1942. Mr. Reinert was an aviation Ordinance man second class on the U.S.S. Bunker Hill. The ship was just off the coast of Japan when a suicide plane dove into the aircraft carrier killing Mr. Reinert and 372 other men aboard the U.S.S. Bunker Hill. Aviation Ordnanceman Second Class Reinert was already a Veteran with 9 Battle Stars on his World War II award bar.
