Army Specialist Jesse D. Reed
October 16, 1983 - July, 14 2010
Reed was assigned to the 27th Engineer Battalion (Combat Airborne), 20th Engineer Brigade (Combat), Fort Bragg, N.C. and deployed to Forward Operating Base Lagman, Afghanistan. On July 14, 2020, searching for roadside bombs during a six truck convoy in Afghanistan, Reed, age 26, of Orefield, Pa was killed by wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his military vehicle with an improvised explosive device. Reed and three others died that day.
When Whitehall High School 2002 graduate Jesse Reed died, he left behind his wife, who was pregnant at the time, and a nearly year-old son. He never met his youngest child, Jesse Jr., but Gold star mother Dolores Reed said the boy, now 10, is the spitting image of his father and his personality has a similar fire.
Jesse's loved ones want you to remember that Jesse was a hero, giving the ultimate sacrifice for the country they and he loved.
