Joshua was born in Sellersville, Pennsylvania.   Joshua was a courageous young soldier who proudly served his country. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) in Fort Drum, N.Y., and was a cannon crew member.

He had served a tour in Iraq and was most recently stationed at Forward Operating Base Griffin in Afghanistan.  On September 18, 2010 he was on his way back from patrolling with his platoon in Kaftar Khan, Afghanistan, when he was morality wounded in an ambush when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire.

Josh was a loyal brother in arms and the only son of Ruth Shirey-Harton.  He was planning on returning to the states to become a police officer after his discharge from his service.
